I was so surprised on Boxing Day! Coming into town, first of all, it was actually difficult to find a parking space. – Not really, but I had to drive quite high up in the parking house. Yes, we have parking houses, now. They are modern, with number plate recognition, and little indicators above each parking space, shining red if the space is occupied, and green if it is available. Like the modern parking facilities in Asia and Europe!
It got better in town. Crowds, yes, really, crowds were in town! Walking happily in the Sunshine, carrying bags. One store played music, and there was a busker, and more music at the market. People with ice cream, and yes, locals! During the last years, one would see a handful of tourists and the occasional local in the CBD. but now… opposite. That’s what we need! Congratulations, Christchurch!
